As our name implies, SJCOM.COM was going to be a Business Directory for all of South Jersey. During the planning stages, we started looking at other sites to get an idea where we wanted to go with our site. Browsing through sites such as "SouthJersey.com" and "FindNJ", we realized it would be a massive project to create a database for all of South Jersey, and a business' listing could get "lost" in with so many other businesses. At that point, we decided we would stay at home and limit our site just to Cumberland County. We felt most Cumberland County businesses rely mostly on Cumberland County residents for their business. We were surprised to learn how many businesses there are in Cumberland County.

Since our decision to limit our directory to Cumberland County businesses, we have had requests for listings from businesses in Atlantic, Cape May, Gloucester, and Salem Counties, but we are adhereing to our decision to list only Cumberland County businesses, and to cater to the interests of the Cumberland County Internet community.

To entice potential customers to our site, we have provided free services to the Cumberland County public. Everything on our site is free to the public. Our existence depends on advertising banners from businesses we hope to benefit.

We are violating one of the most important rules of web design, which states "do not provide links to other sites which will take your visitors away from your site." We encourage our visitors to use our site as a "portal" to other sites for and about Cumberland County. We feel it is our job, and it is our intention to provide a gateway to the web sites of Cumberland County businesses.

By providing a valuable and useful content, it is our sincere hope you, the residents and businesses of Cumberland County, will use our site to its fullest extent, and that you will support the many businesses of Cumberland County.
